Who can use Claira, how admins grant access through Nuix Discover's group-based permissions, and the difference between admin and user roles.

Users and Permissions

Claira uses the same permission system as the rest of Nuix Discover. There are no separate user accounts or passwords to manage -- if someone has access to the case and the right group permissions, they can use Claira.

Who can use Claira

Anyone who meets these two conditions can use Claira on a case:

  1. They have access to the case in Nuix Discover.
  2. Their user group has Claira enabled in the case's feature settings.

That is it. There is no per-user licensing or additional activation step for individual reviewers.

Admin vs. user roles

Case admins

Case admins are responsible for setting up Claira on a case. This includes:

  • Activating Claira in Case Setup > Features
  • Creating and connecting fields
  • Building workspace layouts that include the Claira pane
  • Deciding which user groups get access

Case admins do not need to use Claira themselves, but they control who can.

Users (reviewers)

Once a case admin has enabled Claira for a user's group, that user can:

  • Open the Claira pane in any workspace layout that includes it
  • Write and save prompts
  • Run single scans and bulk scans
  • View AI responses in the connected fields

Users do not need any special training or configuration beyond their first visit, where they confirm the field connections in their session.

How admins grant access

Access is managed through Nuix Discover's group-based permission system. Here is how to enable Claira for a group:

Case SetupSecurityFeatures
  1. Navigate to Case Setup for the target case.
  2. Go to Security, then select Features.
  3. Locate Claira in the features list.
  4. Enable it for each user group that should have access.
You can enable Claira for some groups and not others. For example, you might give senior reviewers access first while you refine your prompts, then roll it out to the full review team later.

Group-based permissions

Claira follows Nuix Discover's standard group model:

  • Each user belongs to one or more groups.
  • Permissions are set at the group level, not the individual user level.
  • If any of a user's groups has Claira enabled, that user can access Claira.

In addition to the Claira feature itself, make sure each group also has access to:

  • Claira fields -- so users can see the fields where AI responses are stored
  • Conditional coding templates -- if you added Claira fields to a conditional coding pane
Case SetupSecurityFields

Without field access, users can run scans but may not be able to see the results in the coding panel.
