What this template produces

A dated table — one row per event, in date order, each row carrying the document it came from. Events that several documents describe are merged into a single row with all their citations, and gaps longer than the period you specify are called out so a missing month is visible rather than silent.

What it reads

This Insight reads a single dated sentence for each document — the output of the Chronology Summary prompt. If your case has not run it yet, Claira offers to run it before generating.

Two ways to reach it

You do not have to remember this template exists. If you run the Chronology Summary prompt as a bulk task, the completed task offers this Insight directly:

On a finished bulk task: “These results can make a Chronology.” Select Generate insight and you are done — the source is already known.

Otherwise, open Insights and select Chronology from the template row at the top of the New insight card. Claira looks for a completed task that ran the prompt and tells you what it found.

The insight prompt

This is what the template puts in What do you want?. Edit it freely — once it is in the box it behaves like any other insight prompt.

Merge these per-document chronology entries into a single case timeline in date order. Group events that describe the same incident into one row. Cite the source document on every row, and call out any gap longer than 30 days.

Step-by-step in Claira

  1. Open Insights in your case and select Chronology from the template row.
  2. If a completed task already ran the prompt, the source fills in and you can go straight to the last step.
  3. If nothing has, select Run this prompt. Claira opens Bulk Tasks with the Chronology Summary prompt filled in — choose your documents and a destination field, then start the scan and check the estimated token usage on the confirmation.
  4. When the task finishes, it offers to generate the Insight. Nothing is queued or charged while it runs.
  5. Edit the prefilled insight prompt if you want, then select Generate Insight.
Already have this data from somewhere else? Select Pick a field instead and choose the field yourself. Claira does not guess which of your fields holds the right kind of value.

The template points at the Chronology Summary prompt template — the same one you would pick yourself from the prompt library. The insight template does not carry its own copy, so improvements to the prompt reach every case.

  • Change the gap threshold — 30 days suits a fast-moving commercial matter, a year suits an employment history.
  • Name the parties you care about so peripheral events stay out of the timeline.
  • Ask for the output grouped by party or by workstream when a single chronology gets unwieldy.

Troubleshooting

  • Dates look wrong. The timeline is only as good as the per-document entries. Spot-check a few values in the field before blaming the Insight.
  • Undated documents are missing. Ask the prompt to place undated documents by their nearest referenced event and mark them, rather than dropping them.
