Troubleshooting Case Context
If something is not working as expected with Case Context, check the common issues below. Most problems have straightforward solutions.
Empty context warning
What you see: A warning that Case Context is empty or incomplete when you try to use the prompt generator.
Why it happens: The prompt generator draws on Case Context to create tailored prompts. When there is no Case Context (or it has not been approved yet), the generator warns you that prompts will be generic rather than case-specific.
What to do:
- If no one has created Case Context yet, follow the Setting Up guide to create one.
- If Case Context exists but is pending approval, wait for it to be approved or contact your case manager to review it.
- If you want to proceed without Case Context, you can dismiss the warning. Claira will still work, but prompts will not be tailored to your matter.
Approval workflow questions
"My Case Context is saved but not active"
If your organization uses an approval workflow, saving Case Context puts it in a pending state. It will not be used by the AI until an approver marks it as approved.
Check the status indicator on the Case Context panel:
- Pending -- Saved but awaiting approval. The AI is still using the previous approved version (or no context if this is the first version).
- Approved -- Active and being used by the AI.
Contact your case manager or the designated approver to move things forward.
"I don't know who the approver is"
The approval workflow is configured by your organization's administrator. If you are unsure who approves Case Context, check with your case manager or contact your Claira portal administrator.
"My edits reset the approval"
This is expected behavior. When you edit an approved Case Context, it returns to a pending state. This ensures that changes are reviewed before they affect AI-generated prompts.
Multiple users editing
"Someone else's changes overwrote mine"
Case Context does not support simultaneous editing. If two users edit at the same time, the last person to save will overwrite the other's changes.
How to avoid this:
- Coordinate with your team about who is responsible for maintaining Case Context.
- Make edits during a time when other team members are not likely to be editing.
- If you suspect a conflict, review the current content before making further changes.
"I accidentally saved over someone else's work"
If this happens, the other person will need to re-enter their changes. Case Context does not have a version history or undo feature. Going forward, coordinate to prevent this from recurring.
Context not appearing in prompt generator
What you see: You have created and saved Case Context, but the prompt generator does not seem to use it.
Possible causes:
- Case Context is pending, not approved. The prompt generator only uses approved Case Context. Check the status badge.
- You are in the wrong case. Case Context is scoped per case. Make sure you are working in the case that has the completed context.
- The section relevant to your prompt is empty. The prompt generator uses specific sections depending on the task. For example, a privilege prompt draws on the Privilege Indicators section. If that section is empty, the generator cannot use it.
What to do:
- Verify the Case Context status is Approved.
- Confirm you are in the correct case.
- Open Case Context and check that the relevant sections are filled in.
NO_CONTEXTThe prompt generator could not find active Case Context for this case. Prompts will be generated without case-specific tailoring. To fix this, create or approve Case Context for this case.If you have confirmed all of the above and the prompt generator still does not reflect your Case Context, contact support for further assistance.
